Applied Force in an Oar

In this project, our goal was to determine the force in a rowing oar throughout the course of a stroke. We performed data collection by applying a strain gauge to the carbon fiber oar of a rowing machine and recording the voltage measurements throughout strokes at different splits. The LabVIEW program was calibrated and used to convert voltage measurements to strain and force. By analyzing the strain gauge data, we were able to determine the effects of force, stress, and strain on an oar throughout the duration of a stroke.
